Problems - 9 times out of ten the main bell brace will be in the way.  This
brace usually has to be cut and fit when converting.  And,  you'd need
several tapers to fit different bells.  And, just adding mass to bell
without actually soldering it in place might be a problem, too.

OTOH, it is an interesting concept, and probably worth a think or two.  I've
heard stories of Warren Deck putting duct tape around his bell to similate a
tuba bell ring in place.  ROLLS and ROLLS of it!
