Hi all,

In earlier times I also played the harp. In order to tune the harp, you
have to show up about a half hour early (hoping nobody else will be
practicing) and tune. It's all well and good to use A 440 to tune, however
I haven't played in a group (except possibly one) which actually PLAYS at A
440. I learned really quickly where the pitch of the group would lie, and
eventually learned to tune to that instead.

I play horn in two groups at the moment, each with a different understanding
of where the "pitch" is. If I tune to the given A or Bb, I usually move my
slide back in when the actual playing starts!
