I've never opened that little plastic door on mine - I just plug a USB
cable into the H2 and the computer, and I see my H2's SD card like it
was a storage device on my PC. From there, it's easy to copy to the
PC, erase what's on the Zoom, etc.

I have heard this criticism before. Do you take the SD card out and
then put it into a card reader on your computer?

Yes- because the H2 as a USB drive transfers at the older USB 1.1
speed. I did a quick test of a recording I made today (about 20
   minutes worth):
Direct SD card transfer: 24 seconds
USB transfer from the H2: 6 minutes, 15 seconds

I use a H2 to record board meetings and it does a perfectly good job. It
has too much noise for any type of high quality music recording and the
external mic input is a stereo mini jack with no phantom power. This is
not a great concern if you just want to record your home practice session

I have to respectfully disagree on this point- my unit has a tiny
fraction of the noise my Minidisc had after transferring to my
computer. It may not be studio-level quality, but it's amazing for a
sub $200 device! If you have a lot of noise you may have a defective
unit. The H2 with external mics have been reported to have quite a bit
of noise in some situations, but not with the internals.
Here is an example recording I made recently of my WWQ in concert.
The only edit I did was fade in/out. Also, this is a 192kbr mp3 to
save space in uploading. The wav version is even cleaner.
