I use all velcro, (1 1/2 inch to secure to horn, 1 inch for hand strap.) 
Has been secure for two seasons, now. I look for wear, but there is none, so 
far. 

Hope this works out for you. I have a Hill/Kortismaki and the Schmidt. Love 
them, both.
