I don't have that edition though, so I'm not even sure where I'd get a back issue - unless it's available online as an IHS member?
In other news, I took several photos online of the Clebsch strap - and took about 3 feet of velcro. I modeled a few velcro straps almost identical to the Clebsch and it seems to help. I'm sure with a few more modifications I could get it right. It seems to help immensely, but it's not perfect yet. I do know I've played about 2 hours on the horn today with that strap and didn't have much discomfort in my hand compared to yesterday. So, thanks to everyone for the ideas! I also like the shelf idea someone else posted, and if there was a little more plumbing my palm could almost rest around the bottom of the two exit pipes from the change valve. Judging by the lacquer wear, it's been done quite a bit before. With all the leather working people around here (boots and saddles are common items here), I could also just get something made for it. The sound is the most important thing in a horn, so somehow I want to make this work. -William -----Original Message----- From: Michael Houle <[email protected]> To: Horn Maillist <[email protected]> Sent: Sun, Jun 5, 2011 2:38 pm Subject: [Hornlist] Schmid Horns Thumb valves Robert Osmun recently mentioned Michelle Stebleton’s article in The Horn Call about the modification she made to here Schmidt wrap horn. A quick look at my past issue collection found the article in the February 1997 issue, Vol. XXVII, No.2, page 69. It is quite explicit, with five photos. The work was done by Karl Hill.
