Wendell, The website schedule looks great, but ...I'm getting inquiries from
some who plan to attend my BE presentation on Thursday, but there's no
allowance for registration for Thursday only on the website. Please
clarify, so I can let them know.

Only 2 weeks to go!

Rooms in SF for IHS 43 are still available at the Comfort Inn (on the web
site). Many people from the workshop are staying there. Those of you looking
to hook up with car pools might want to take it to the Horn People site on
facebook and the Memphis and Yahoo Horn forums.
With a roommate, the price is no more than the dorms and includes breakfast
and airport shuttle. You can have up to 4 people per room.

Flight, room and car packages are still out there at several of the internet
travel sites. It might not be as expensive as you think.

We have posted a day to day schedule on the web site: Schedule Check the pdf
file as well as the page itself, which is presentations only.

This promises to be a very special workshop, if i do say so myself. Take a
look at the exhibitors list. All the best horns and horn people in one place
for one week. Did you ever have a lesson with Arnold Jacobs? Free? Are you
not a little interested in what I am spending my time writing a new book
about? I've sold 1500 copies of my first one. How about Dennis Brain? See a
couple of his actual horns. Hear what they sound like. Hear tapes of him you
have never heard.

How about a class with the San francisco Symphony horn section? Hear them
play the Hindemith quartet on the opening concert.

How about putting a face on all the great horn playing you have been hearing
on TV and in the movies all your life? Do you know the story behind the
studio scene, as told by the people themselves? Would you like to help us
celebrate the efforts of the great pioneers of the Hollywood studio scene
and the LA Horn Club, the first horn ensemble? Meet the great pioneers of
those days. Show them how much you like what they did.

And if that isn't enough, what about some of the best horn players in the
world playing for you everyday and giving master classes? Still not enough?
How about world premier pieces and interesting performances of all kinds by
our contributing artists? Not convinced yet? Two words: Genghis Barbie on
the wharf, doing whatever they want.

OK, check out the schedules. As one of our great teacher/players said to me
recently, "Its like a year of horn study in one week."

It may be too much for some of you, I know, but I survived about 13 of these
things over the years, so you can too. I'm giving you a half day off to
re-energize, maybe take a lesson or special class with someone and/or
hangout with your new friends.

Otherwise, I can't help you. :- ) I have done what I can. See you there. i
wish I could say "The drinks are on me!" Now that, i can't do.

Sincerely,
Wendell Rider
