Valerie (and anyone else in the US who experiences this),

Please file a complaint with IC3.gov so they can add it to their
files.  IC3 is a joint effort of the FBI and the National White Collar
Crime Center to track and hopefully catch and prosecute these
offenders. 

The fact you did not fall for it does not mean it's all over.
Reporting it, especially since you have evidence in hand, may give
them real means to help stop the folks behind this.  For even more
