I apologize for cross-posting, but..

Symphony of the Potomac in Rockville MD has an opening for horn.

We are looking for an associate principal but would also be thrilled
with a strong low horn. The horns rotate parts, so you will have a
chance to move around a little. A high school student is welcome, but
you must be able to commit for the entire season and attend the vast
majority of our rehearsals.

Auditions are currently being scheduled for August 30 and 31, and we
start rehearsals September 1.

Our program for this season includes Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a
Theme of Paganini and Dvorak 8, Beethoven 6 and Haydn 101, Chadwick's
2nd Symphony, 3 of Brahms' Hungarian Dances, and Schubert's Great C
Major. The full information is on our website at
http://www.symphonypotomac.org.

SOTP is a good community orchestra (we actually prefer "community of
musicians"), and many members have been with the orchestra through its
current and previous iteration for over 30 years. The music director,
Joel Lazar, is well trained, extremely knowledgeable, and understands
what the players are doing. He is good to work with. (I know some of
you have problems with your conductors, so I'm just tossing that in.)

This is not a paid orchestra. We have a $50 annual member fee to help
cover costs. Rehearsals are usually Thursday evenings from 7:45 to
10:15 PM, with a Saturday afternoon tossed in the day before the
concert.

If you would like to schedule an audition, please contact Harriet
Guskin at [email protected] or by phone at 301-299-8233. Or, if you
have questions, please send me an email ([email protected]).
