Doug, no disrespect intended, but I believe some professional performers are out of touch w/ the goals of amatuer horn players. Perhaps you're right about some, but I believe you are presuming things about amatuers that do not apply to all. The goal of many an amatuer performer is to simply have FUN playing the horn. For many, it's a hobby, an interesting & stimulating pass-time, not a profession or a religious quest. When you see them at a festival/gathering, they aren't necessarily there to find the "Holy Grail" that's going to transform them into world class musicians. Many are simply there to socialize with others with whom they share common interests and to have fun shopping around, trying and buying new horns & equipment, new music, etc. -- Valerie Wells The Balanced Embouchure Method http://bebabe.wordpress.com/ http://www.beforhorn.blogspot.com/ _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
