In response to my note about a recording with Mike Bloom on it, Loren Mayhew wrote:

I should have made it clear that the recording was only a reminder for me -- I've heard both Bloom and Jones many times in person, and never heard either have any trouble projecting. Of course, a fine player can make almost any horn sound good anywhere, but in my experience, a large-throat horn can be made to project very well in any hall, and tends to produce a sound which is fuller and "meatier" than a medium-throat instrument. Whether you like that kind of sound is up to you. Chris Earnest _______________________________________________ Horn mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://music.memphis.edu/mailman/listinfo/horn
