I once had the opportunity to play a Fahrenheit horn.  It played ok, but
the scale was a little off, with A set at 212.  Fahrenheit filled his
horns at the factory with alcohol, as was his custom when he manufactured
thermometers.  So "bells up" was more like bottoms up.
