Dear friends in the US, has your (?) defense minister, Mr.D.Rumsfeld, gone crazy ? Setting Germany in a row with Libya & Cuba ? What & who does give him this impertinence ?
Did he ever read a history book of the history of the last two centuries ? Germany was involved actively in three great wars since 1871, the one a brother-sister war with France, some kind of a long time revenge after being conquered by Napoleon Bonaparte early 19th century, the two other wars were eventually started by Germany (2nd) & Austria (1st, after the assasination of the heir of the throne). So both countries have received their lection by a big war desaster. Austria has lost most of its territory, Germany has been blamed for the Holocaust & for "coventry-ing" & etc. These lections are enough. The German (and Austrian) constitution does not allow to take part on a war actively - means aggressive or invading a country -, except defending the own territory or defending a friend or pact nations territory. But so far, no friends or pacts territory has been invaded or attacked by Iraq. The attack of September 11 has been performed by a group of religious-political fundamentalists, most of them of Saudi origin (Saudi is the protector of the Islam�s holy places !). And yesterdays "show" ? Do they really believe, the whole world believes this Mickey-Mouse level propaganda with old warmed up cheese, with so called hear-say-evidence, every computer beginner can produce within a few minutes ? And again, as a foreigner living here in Germany as a guest since 38 years, I might state, that even the use of German soldiers as peacekeepers on foreign soil was very high problematic. Peacekeeping means holding the two parties apart each other, support contacts between both conflict parties, bring them together, show them how to restore law & order in their devasted region, not SHOOTING on any moving target or bombing & polluting whole large areas (depleted uranium !!) & poisoning them. That is our understanding of keeping peace. This has nothing to do with Saddam�s politic. That is another pair of shoes, to be cleaned politically only. Do you know, that the Baghdad National Philharmonic even plays Mendelssohn�s music in their programs; they also play Mozart, Beethoven & Brahms. And, to come to an end, we here in Europe, will suffer more on oil shortage from Near East than you will in the USA. A War under the circumstances of economic depression as is now here in Europe, will ruin our economy surely. We all have suffered under the wars over centuries and we have peace in Europe since 1945, now for 58 years. And it should remain peace. Germany has tried to compensate for the Holocaust (but deads will not come alive again) with financial & political support for the people of Israel. There is a new community of One-hundred-thousand jews in Germany, living in peace with the germans. Five million plus guest workers work & live here, many of the muslim. And this peaceful atmosphere should be endangered by a War ? NO, please, and No again.
