Also, there are longer single-ended cotton swabs available.

This reminds me of a story my boss told me when I was working in a music
shop. He said a jazzer brought his alto sax in, saying that it just didn't
play right anymore. As Mr. Morgan was poking around the horn to see what
was going on, a huge glob of junk plopped down, stopped by the bell turn.
The entire inside was coated with what seemed like a lifetime deposit of
who-knows-what.

I think that some careful thought would be beneficial if you ever have
"globs" of anything inside your horn.

A friend just showed me his oiler, which was a tiny snout from a Krazy Glu
package (snout not attached to the glue container) which fit perfectly on
the top of a regular valve oil bottle. The snout was an inch or so long.
Neat.
