Hans,

Yes, very interesting....

I assume from your message that the manuscript was done by a copyist and
not Franz himself, or am I misunderstanding? Any contemporary copy would be
of great interest, but Strauss' holograph would have authority way beyond
that of a copyist's. I am not a collector of such (presumably) high priced
items myself, but I do work for an institution with extensive rare
manuscript holdings. I would need a little more information before deciding
whether or not it would be a good idea to pass your information along.

Greetings,

Peter Hirsch

<subject: [Hornlist] interesting old score found (Franz Strauss)
<
<I received a message from a music computer setter in former East Germany
<telling that he had discovered an old hand copy of Franz Strauss op.8
<horn concerto (full score). He sent me a copy of the first page. It is a
<very nice hand copy from around 1885 or so, very good condition. This
<early score might be for sale. If one is interested, let me know. I
<would pass the offer to the owner of the manuscript.
<
<The autograph is in the Garmisch Richard Strauss archive.
