I have sold a couple of horns on Hornplayer.net in the past two years. I did have conversations with both people and they seemed "real". I took cashier's checks before shipping the horn, with the added step of calling the bank the check was written on to verify the check would be good. In both cases the bank was willing to help me. I did not bank the checks until the buyer had decided to keep the horn, although maybe now I would.
