Dear All

Sorry to be the obituary writer for the lists.

But I have just had a phone call containing the sad tidings of the death of
Martin Shillito whose name has cropped up on several occasions. Martin was
Barry Tuckwell's 4th horn in the London Symphony Orchestra and 4th for the
famous recording of the Tippett Sonata for 4 horns. He was also a talented
flute player and, in recent years, had devoted himself to a career as a
brass teacher and examiner in the Newcastle area where he had been 2nd horn
in the Northern Sinfonia.
He had undergone major surgery last year and suffered a heart attack on the
operating table. However, hopes for his recovery were high which makes the
news of his death, from another heart attack, last night even more of a
shock.

Regards

Paul Kampen
