Are you joking ? I have never seen nor heard that band musicians concentrated on a marching shop, have ever adjusted slides or lips during such a performance to compensate the Doppler effect.
If you play with relaxed embouchure & not so loud as usual, thing go by far better than while playing so obnoxious loud. The ballet is not easy to memorize, off course, but isnīt there a certain system involved ? And the downbeat problem ? If you got a rhythmic feeling, just stay in the rhythm. Thatīs it. Do you think, you can see everything from the conductor when playing in the pit ? And special downbeat ? Often it is a mere upbeat after upbeat, like the music were in to be conducted all in one beat on & on. We have a proverb: "Leave the church in the village !" (Letīs not get carried away !) ===================================================== -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Larry Jellison Sent: Monday, April 05, 2004 8:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Hornlist] Marching Band Challenges Let's look at the difficulties involved with performing in a marching band with a horn in the most difficult venue, the football halftime show.
