William, it is not important to be a leader in the music field, but being able to participate on activities delighting listeners to music, thatīs worth the effort anyway. It does not depend on the level or size of the group you particite. But all music activity must be taken seriously, special as the target is not just enjoying ones own participation, but more the delightment of others. =====================================================
