David wrote with evident glee:

>In the pit this week with Princess Ida.

Ah... I'm jealous. I do one G&S a year with the New
Lyric Theatre. But, alas and alack, only one.

So much fun (and the cast, music director, and
orchestra are so good) that it's almost always the
highlight of my musical year.

In the last twelve months, I've played G&S's Patience,
Carmina Burana, Elijah, How to Succeed in Business
Without Really Trying, symphonies by Mozart, Haydn,
and Beethoven, among others, a Schumann piano
concerto, and much else that isn't coming immediately
to mind.

Which would have pained me the most to miss? Not even
close. Patience.

I can't be the only one on the list who would gladly
trade two Mozarts for one G&S.
