Freddie Vogelgesang used to hang out at Joe Harbor's Spotlite at Broadway and 52nd St., the well known horn players' watering hole (now long gone). He lived in the midtown area of Manhattan and was often working in that area. This would have been in the early 1960's. The remarkable thing was that when his triple recording of the Brahms was mentioned to him, he seemed not to regard it as anything special. But then, Freddie was a pretty unassuming guy. He was one of the "normal" types that hung out there (there were many other types).
