It depends what you call regularly. Gerd Seifert is still playing professionally first horn at age 73 e.g. (he plays in a musical production in Berlin) - you see horn playing is his life.
I remember a horn player (Erhard) in Freiburg, who still taught horn when I visited him the day after his 100th birthday. And he was still able to play, but did play just for fun or as demo for his pupils. He played trumpet at the Czar´s court in St.Petersburg. There is really no age limit, but the muscle tonus must function properly (so the hormone production to keep the muscle tonus). Playing horn at amateur level or advanced amateur level, well, there should be no age limitation, just a limit if playing becomes a burden or if the playing quality (sound output) will detorriate. . Use "auto criticism" please. ======================================================== -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, November 29, 2004 4:30 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Hornlist] bells - and the age thing In a message dated 11/28/2004 7:18:12 PM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I wonder to what age can an old man expect to play "regularly"? Bob, you can expect to play the rest of your life, if you live that long.
