I am writing to inform prospective graduate students that there is still time to apply for the Horn Studio Graduate Assistantship Vacancy and Graduate Tuition Waivers at Illinois State. There are qualified applicants, but there is still time to apply before the March 1 deadline.

The Illinois State University School of Music announces a Graduate Assistantship in Horn for 2005-2006. Tuition Waivers are also available. Stipend is $5,400. per year plus a full Tuition Waiver worth $4,350 per year for Illinois residents and $9,090 per year for non-residents. The assistantship is a renewable award worth up to $14,490. per year for non-residents. In addition to performing in a graduate brass or woodwind quintet, other duties may include large ensemble performance and/or studio or classroom teaching, depending on the candidate's interests and experience and departmental needs. Additional performance opportunities may be available in several regional orchestras.
The current GA performs with Opera Illinois.


David Wetherill, Co-Principal Horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra was a Guest Artist this fall. Previous Guest Artists at Illinois State include: Hermann Baumann, Barry Tuckwell, Gail Williams, Froydis Wekre, Eric Ruske, Martin Hackleman, Roland Pandolfi, Tod Bowermaster, Daniel Bourgue, hornists with the U.S. Marine, Army Field and Navy Bands and hornists from The Philadelphia Orchestra, Houston, Baltimore and National Symphonies. Illinois State University is located in Bloomington-Normal, a musically active and culturally rich city of more than 100,000. Illinois State University offers the Master of Music in Performance, Conducting, Composition, Music Therapy and the Master of Music Education.
