Hello Russ, did you really play "Der Rosenkavalier" last night or was it "Der Rosenkavalier-Walzer" or the "Rosenkavalier Suite", which all are different to the whole "Der Rosenkavalier", an opera of 4hrs+ and not designed for an community orchestra, as it would exceed the abilities too far. Please clarify, so other similar orchestras would benefit from your note, as they would perhaps take up the chance to play such a piece also.
The original opera "Der Rosenkavalier" needs perfect skill in transposition as it changes very often, high endurance, low & high register, ability to enter in pp, very good 2nd, 3rd & 4rth horn besides an excellent 1st. ============================================================ ============================================================ ================================= -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of arsmiley Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2005 6:18 AM To: 'The Horn List' Subject: RE: [Hornlist] 2005 Northeast Horn Workshop Shanna, I, too, am 'lowly' - I'm just an adult amateur. I play in a community orchestra (we just played Der Rosenkavalier tonight), and that has been a great experience for me. So, too, have been the two Northeast Horn Workshops that I've attended. Both were memorable and rewarding. One workshop was in Boston the other was in Hartford. Here are links that Marilyn Bone Kloss has posted to the reports on the two workshops that I attended. http://world.std.com/~mbk/mbk_nhw2001.htm http://world.std.com/~mbk/mbk_nhw2002.htm _______________________________________________ post: horn@music.memphis.edu unsubscribe or set options at http://music.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
