Bb all the way since 1965. I was a tuba major in college, but changed to horn my freshman year. My teacher was Forrest Standly, who played his Schmidt in Bb, and lent me one of his back up horns, which was also in Bb. Since that time I've owned Paxman, Hoyer, Knopf, Geyer, Alexander, Finke, Schmidt, Schmid and other horns, and they have all been in Bb. Doesn't matter if they are single, double, descant or triple horns, Bb works for me, even playing fourth part. Did Brahms 4th and Carmen Suites 1 & 2 on our last concert, and instead of my normal first position, I chose to play fourth. First has become boring after thirty-five years. No problem at all with my Alex triple. Those low Ds and even lower Gs popped right out. As my third player, who is quite young said, "Awsome."
