While I understand the concept here, I'm not sure that's the best solution. I certainly wouldn't want any negative stigma associated with playing 4th horn. I understand in educational ensembles sometimes chair placement can be important (it was to me), part of what should be explained in a university setting is that playing 4th, or 2nd, or assistant or even more obscure parts shouldn't be punishment, and that every chair has a unique role to fill.

I sometimes worry about "tone of voice" in email, and hope that David or anyone else on the list doesn't think I'm being unfair to them -- just voicing my opinion.
