Here in South Carolina, USA, it is much the same
way.  My wife, also a horn player, has one
rehearsal this coming Saturday, with the concert on
Sunday.  It's very common for that type of thing in
this area. In fact, I've played a few concerts with
no rehearsals!  

It's all about saving money and the visual
impression of having the orchestra all dressed up
on stage.  Sadly, it's not about the quality of the
musical performance.

Of course, this group of musicians has played
together for years in this manner, so we are used
to this type of work.
