Charles Valenza

Hello, Charles! Thanks much for a great post about Hanson and Eastman. I attended Eastman in the summer session of 1950. I needed a couple of horn credits to complete my degrees at the University of Oklahoma in 1951. Otherwise, all my horn study was with George Yaeger. Were you a Yegudkin student also? George studied with Yegudkin so I decided to go to the source for lessons that summer. Bill McKee of Tulsa U and Tulsa Phil was a friend, also which gave me a lot of information about the General. In 1997 I presented a lecture/discussion about the General during the IHS Workshop at Eastman. I had a lot of correspondence with Harry Hoffman, a perennial attendee at IHS workshops. I also knew Morris Secon and Milan Yancich from my time as Editor of The HORN CALL. Somewhere in those years I got to know Harold Meek and Barry Benjamin, also.

I appreciate your lengthy post to the horn list about Hanson and the Orchestras at Rochester. It was all very interesting and informative. Thank you, again!

CORdially yours,

Paul Mansur
