If you get a good one, some of the current 8Ds play reasonably well.  I 
don't think I'd use the word "beautiful".  There are a couple of things that 
bug me about them, the valves are designed for premature failure and there's no 
wire in the bead of the tank-like bell.  Valve linkage is shoddy and sloppy 
feeling, gee I guess I could go on for awhile but heck, they're cheap.  Buy 
one, 
play it for 3 or 4 years then offload it on an unsuspecting student and get a 
new one.
