There was no Czech Republic in 1910. The instrument, a compensating double, still looks like a pre-WWI Bohemian instrument originally built to high pitch and later on taken down to A=440 by means of lengthened tuning slides. The sock-shape of the F tuning slide is very typical for that operation also on other instruments. I have a Cerveny Kaiserbariton with the same feature. In general I am biased against compensating rotary horns aside from the Walzenhörner. If you buy this one for playing purposes, you may very likely get disappointed due to leaky valves. At best it may be a collector’s item, but then it is anonymous. In that context it is wildly overpriced. Klaus Smedegaard Bjerre __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
