Sorry, William, Leinhos is an error in my dictionary. He did not sign (as
usual) the solopart. And the solohorn from Berlin was higher in rank. I will
give the name as soon as returned home. His signature is in the
Goetterdaemmerung part. And, does a single F rotary, also equipped with the
F-crook and the bell kranz, sound much different from the Viennese pumpenhorn ?
Wagner had a certain special orchestra in mind when composing the 2nd half of
the RING, - and he had not much contact with orchestras then, just a concert
here & there. When has he been in Vienna during that time ? And the F-horns
(Suttner played one of these) were of similar bore than the Pumpenhorns. The
Weimar Schmidt before 1928 had exactly the same bore. I tried it with the
Pumpenhorn tuning slide - thus the superb sound, etc, etc.

Nevertheless, some too naive questions need a harder reply than usual. So my
excuse to those who might feel being offended.
Greetings from Ayutthaya Hans
