>> I'm just curious, from all of the vast experience on this list, what
improved playing characteristics could I expect from installing a custom
leadpipe on my early Texas 8D? It plays well now, so what would change?

I asked a couple of weeks ago for suggestions on a new horn, and many
suggested that I just change the leadpipe. Give me some good reasons.

Hi Jim:
With due respect to the many leadpipe makers out there (of which I am also
one) - I don't really think this is an answerable question. The only way to
know which (if any) pipe will be the right one for your horn is for you to
try it and see if it works for you. There are simply too many variables for
any maker to claim that their pipe is THE pipe for you and that it will fix
all the specific problems you have.
My suggestion - try pipes until you find the right one - or try a different
horn. Sincerely Ken Pope
