Justin Ellis asked for the names of the 7ASO horn players I mentioned. The
info is available on the symphony web site, but here it is in more
accessible form:
three in the NY Phil: Bob Johnson, Aubrey Facenda, Carl Schiebler
one in the Symphony of the Air: Ralph Froelich
one in the LA Phil: Henry Sigismonti
one in Pittsburgh: Howard Hillyer
one in St. Louis: Carl Schiebler
two in Kamsas City: Frank Franano, James Shoush
three in New Orleans: Chris Earnest, Thomas Moore, Ron Rhodes
one as extra in the Boston Symphony: Dick Greenfield
one in the New York City Opera: Frank Santonicola
one in Buffalo, Pittsburg, Cleveland, and Minnesota: Charles McDonald
I can't believe I left out Abby Mayer, who played in the National Symphony,
the Baltimore Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, and the USMA West Point
Band, and who still teaches at Kendall's Horn Camp. I also left out Dave
Amram, who is famous as a conductor, composer, etc, etc, etc. Milton also
pointed out that Larry Bush played in San Antonio.
Chris Earnest
