Steve,
You should have stayed in NY a little longer. You could have played in
Italian Feast Bands with me. Sometimes horn and sometimes cymbals.

Subject: [Hornlist] Marching Bands

I found it really crazy, when the first shirt in the Air Force Band I just
joined said,"we'll be forming up outside the rehearsal hall for marching
band at 1300 hours".
Coming from the H.S. of Performing Arts, where marches were played sitting
,either in a concert band or orchestra,I was in for a very uncomfortable
time.
I auditioned on horn ,they had no way of knowing of my drumming
experience.I told them I never marched with a horn,and I did'nt want to have
some trombone player smack me with his slide turning a corner .They said
play horn or go to the stockade, then I told them of my drumming ,and after a
short audition,I was in the drum line.
A close call, although I'd rather be playing the long call of Wagner!.
More power to ya ,if you can do that horn thing in a marching band.
 Ciao,
Steve
