Yes -- well, only two at a time, one soldered and one taped on, as Bill Gross outlined. Switching the mouthpiece and tuning slide (both at once!) between the two gave a quick A/B comparison. As I remember, I took two new leadpipes with me from Conn and kept one or the other taped on (alternately) for probably several weeks, comparing the two with each other and with the original until I was sure that I had the one that was best in just about every situation. I wouldn't recommend switching leadpipes without such an extended comparison.
