Excellent advice Tim!

Also, one additional note - Bona has improved his zippers on his MB1-MB3
cases with the addition of a metal stop where the zippers come together.
The newer cases (and of course the MB5-MB7) are a lot better than they
used to be in regards to their zippers. My MB5 has withstood daily
trips in and out of my car and then on-location and back again for the
past year and I could sell the case as "like new" right now.

In regards to the Thompson cases, a student of mine just picked one up.
The build quality is phenomenal.

Cheers-
Jeremy

Forgive me if I repeat myself. But on the subject of zippers...

There has been talk of zippers on the MB cases going bad and being
expensive to repair. Before you spend a lot of money on replacing these
or any other zippers, take your case to a good local cobbler. They
virtually all work on things other than just shoes. 9 times out of 10,
if they are honest, they can fix a bad zipper in a matter of seconds;
and they will do so for a few dollars. Most of the time what one thinks
is a bad zipper is just a broken or bent zipper pull, which can almost
always be repaired or replaced. Or in the case of my MB, weak stitching
around the zipper had to be resewn. There are other things like that
that can cause a zipper to stop working. But it is fairly uncommon for
zippers to actually break to the point that they need to be replaced.

I have saved hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars on horn cases,
backpacks, suitcases and what not after having discovered this.

I should add that I paid for a couple of very costly and unnecessary
zipper replacements before finally figuring this out, so I know whereof
I speak.

Happy zipping.
