McMaster-Carr carries white Buna-N cord stock that can be used as valve stop
bumpers. How cool is that! It has a durometer rating of 70 which is the
perfect hardness for this application. I tried some Viton, durometer 75, and
it is too hard, causing an annoying sound when playing Kopprasch. I also
ordered some brass shims to place under the valve caps to keep the top bearing
firmly seated. Paxman valve caps don't contact the top bearing when fully
screwed down. It is a mystery why Paxman makes them like this.
