My dust-up with the conductor over the horrible Pavane score was played out later with three emails. My first email to the conductor was light hearted and I suggested that I would purchase the original score and parts for our performance. His response was acidic and dismissive. Towards the end of his rebuttal he started, humoursily to me, to refer to himself as "the Podium". My response was that if the podium had time management issues preparing an adult orchestra performance, the podium should return to the viola section were his presence was sorely missed. Needless to say, I no longer am a member of the orchestra. Now the gloves have gone missing. The podium attempted to thwart my appointment to another orchestra 11 hours before it was proffered and before I new of the opening. An email copy was sent to me from a freind originating from the podium to my new conductor. The new conductor consulted with his horn section before offering me the job and blew off the podium. I called the old orchestra manager and requested that she rein in the attack Chihuahua conductor and his podium and reminded her that his actions were illegal and civily liable. This incident has been equally humorous and annoying. Who knew conductors were so arrogant? And who knew conductors were so arrogant?
