To make you more jealous, we just returned from Emperor Duck restaurant at No.24, Jianguomenwei , Chaoyang district, Beijing - it is about accross the street from the old Friendship Store, not far from New Otani Hotel. open from 10:00 AM to 09:30 P.M. The ducks are real jumbo ducks. We had problems to eat our 1/2 duck, which was prepared in the three ways: first eat skin & the best parts from the duck meat, using the thin pancakes brown souce lettuce garlic cucumber, next roasted the remaining duck meat served with cabbage to wrap it, third duck soup from the bones etc, side dish bitter lemon salad, dessert watermelon, drink: green tea. All for 26 USD. In a famous big traditional restaurant on the main street of Beijing. Anything compareable at your place ? Greetings from Beijing Hans (just travelling around in China, visiting the famous Buddhist places: Yunggang caves & hanging monastery at Datong (river still 1 meter thick frozen), Tianling caves in the mountains near Ta iyuan, Xi´an, Maiji Shan near Tianshui, Bingling Si near Lanzhou, - Urumqi was 50% moslem city, complete chaos on Friday like you stir in a ant mountain creatic panic, the Big Buddha in Leshan 73 meters high (impressive because of the size but uninteresting artwise), Jinsha Site excavations of the Shu culture in Chengdo area (it is within the city boundaries, 5 square kms big area, found real tons of ivory - crazy big tusks, not mammouth, real elephants -, discovered 2001, the giant museum allready opened to the public - see under www.jonshasitemuseum.com
