The University of Oklahoma School of Music announces Brass Assistantships for Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Tuba
Duties: • Brass assistantships include performing in the Graduate Brass Quintet and assisting in the respective brass studios. • Other duties may be based upon qualifications and interests. • Graduate Quintets are active recitalists and are expected to participate in competitions, area cultural outreach, and be area clinicians for local public school music programs • Other assistantships may be available in academic and administrative areas This award which is renewable for a second year. Stipend and Benefits: The below information is for the current academnic year. The stipend figure will be somewhat higher for next year. The annual stipend for a .50 Graduate Assistantship is $9398 for a nine-month appointment. In addition, the assistantship comes with fee waiver consideration for in-state and out-of-state tuition and health coverage under the student health plan. Admission qualifications: • Completion of a Bachelor or Masters degree in music with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. • Successful audition into the MM or DMA program. The only comprehensive music school in Oklahoma, graduate degrees are available in Performance, Music History, Music Theory, Conducting, Music Education, Composition, and Piano Pedagogy. The School of Music presents over 250 musical performances each year. The Brass Area consists of artist/faculty who perform with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Santa Fe Symphony Orchestras.
