Our mouthpiece shanks are
milled to fit .625" into our lead-pipe. If your mouthpiece is going in more
than .5" you may be beyond the venturi.

I finally got around to measuring the venturi on my three horns, which are not necessarily a meaningful sample.

Alexander 104 .318 venturi, .480 deep
Paxman 40L #5701 .305 venturi, .590 deep
Paxman Bb 5-valve #265T1 .299 venturi, .800 deep

My main mouthpiece, a Paxman 3B, goes in about .600 +/- about .020

Venturi depths are a little hard to measure precisely, I figure +/- . 020 there too.

Interesting! I shall do something about a better fit with my Alex. John Dutton is always claiming that an Alex horn doesn't really come alive without an Alex mouthpiece. Hmmm...

Anybody else manage to measure their horns?
