We got the rough locations of 7 ebola treatment centers (ETC's) from one of our contacts. The true positions of the centers are not known exactly so we have been asked to map a 5 km radius around each approximate location. This will allow field workers to have good maps of their surrounding environment, as well as allow them to work out exact locations of things even without GPS by simply using the other objects in the area as landmarks.
Because these are obviously areas of key importance I am asking that we trace _everything_ we possibly can around these sites. That means roads, buildings, landuses, waterways, and anything else we can recognize in the imagery. Because the instructions are to trace everything, I have marked the job as "For Experienced Mappers Only". You don't need to be an expert mapper to work on the job, but you should know how to identify the common things in the imagery and know how to tag them. If you feel like you can handle this, please join in on the mapping. If you are unsure that you have mapped everything that needs to be, you can always just leave the tile marked 'incomplete' so that someone who is confident it is all done will look over it one final time before completing it. This is a different kind of job than we have gotten in the past, so it will be interesting to see how it works. This is a new way of responding to aid requests and I hope it can serve as a good example of how flexible the OSM volunteer mapping community can be.
