Hi Peter and all,

Your suggestion of including short screen shot instruction videos is something
the LearnOSM Working Group is discussing now as an addition to the learning
materials. Your thinking is right on with that. I agree visual materials,
without sound, can be excellent training materials. Plus, without narration,
they can accompany instructions in any language.

Cheers!

Sounds like a great idea!

Think it could be a powerful way to communicate what HOT is about to a much
wider audience.

What I suggest may not be as appealing and is more technical, but assuming we
do get a lot of interest and surge of new users;

May be we could do a couple of videos to help starters to interpret satellite
imagery? In addition we could show how they might draw features/check out a
tile. Short, 2 mins or so.

Goal being not to make experts, but just to get beginners thinking about how
they look at the imagery. They'll not be perfect or make perfect users but it
should improve the quality of the masses and help with any influx.

Thanks

Pete

Dear Tyler,

Thank you for sending me an email. I think it will be interesting to make one
for HOT. I have been making videos for years as a side activity.
I could give it a try, but we'll need to create an outline of what the film
will be about.

Here is some of my previous work:

This is a more recent film:

It is just an overview of different styles. We can make a film anyway we want.

Let me know if you are interested.

Regards,
Tony

Dear Tony,

Thanks for your great suggestion. In fact, we're working on a video recap of
the first annual HOT Summit from April, and eventually would like to have an
"Intro to HOT" video. If you're interested in contributing in any way, please
do let me know.

Best,
Tyler

Hello,

I have been doing HOT for a few months. The thing is, when I just started I
wasn't totaly sure what HOT was about. Wouldn't it be helpful to make a short
film/video what HOT is about. Everyone who want's to get more people interested
can just show the video. Rather than plain text and images, we can show HOT in
a more dynamic way.
