Hello HOT community - We’ve hit our first major milestone for the development of the field campaigner organizing tool. On Friday, we shared an update <https://www.hotosm.org/updates/2017-08-18_field_mapping_organizer_reaches_first_major_milestone> about the field campaigner app [1] and then on Saturday, Paul shared <http://2017.stateofthemap.org/2017/mapcampaign-manage-large-mapping-projects-while-leveraging-local-knowledge/> about the work at State of the Map in Japan [2].
This is an initial version we’re testing with projects in Istanbul, Kampala, Dar es Salaam, and Jakarta. You can read about some of the key features we’ve developed thus far in the post, but I want to flag two things for this coming week: *1. Community chat on Friday, August 25 at 14:00 UTC.* We’ll demo the work, share some of the results from the testing, and talk about priorities for our last phase of development. Our chat will be on Zoom to allow video and recording so in case you can’t make it, you can watch the recording later. Details below. *2. Naming the app.* In the final phase, we’re going to finalize the look and feel of the application and this includes the name. We’ve launched an survey of names that were generated in a early brainstorming session. Give us your input <https://www.loomio.org/p/yNg5atKn/name-this-tool> if you would like to contribute some ideas [3]. **** Community chat details: Date & Time: August 25 @ 14:00 UTC Video call-in details: https://zoom.us/j/116733310 **** If you have questions or what to have discussion ahead of time, you can join the #field-campaigner channel on HOT’s Slack.
