Robert: Sounds like you have a pretty logical approach to using SP's. Regarding the speed issue: I read an article yesterday from Microsoft or a MS employee who works with SQL Server (don't remember which) that stated there is no longer the speed advantage to using SP's as there was in the past. SPs vs. parameteriezed queries.
