Yeap, have a custom exception and then use CFThrow to throw custom
exception.

    regular stuff
<cfselseif>
     <cfthrow type="message">
</cfif>

This code will catch that custom exception...
<cfcatch type="message">
            <cflocation url="ErrorMsg.cfm">
 </cfcatch>
