I'm so pumped about the turnout at last night's meeting. It might be the best
turnout I've seen at any meeting since I've been involved with this user group.
This is impressive considering that we had 3-5 "regulars" who couldn't make it.
We had more "new faces" than regulars.

Many commented that Monday is a better day for them. We'll definitely keep this
in mind.

Many find the Galleria location easier to get to. I'm happy that our
relationship with our new building sponsor is a good one. Please consider our
location sponsor, CTREC Hilton, for your training needs (www.ctrec.com)

Many commented that the social media efforts, particularly Linked In
announcements, led them to our meeting. I want to thank Marlon with Paladin,
who has helped out immensely in this area. We hope to improve our efforts in
the social web, increasing the ways we utilize resources such as Twitter and
Facebook.

Many pointed out that the subject was the reason they came. Since I was the
presenter, I'm humbled by this, and hope that I have this kind of reception
when I present the same topic on Saturday at cf.Objective(). In the coming
months, we are definitely going to be focusing on bringing presentations that
meet the needs of our community. In June, one of the authors of the CFWACK,
John C. Bland III, will be presenting on CF on Wheels (CF version of Ruby on
Rails). In July, CF Security Expert Pete Freitag will be talking about CF
security, and will be giving away licenses to his company's CF firewall and
security monitoring services. I hope to have additional presentations in June
and July from two of the major cloud infrastructure providers, jElastic and
CloudBees.

As we welcome in a large number of those new to ColdFusion, we will start
having more "ColdFusion 101" presentations. For the senior CF developers in our
group, I'd encourage you to help in this: while you're helping others learn,
you're advancing your own career by mastering the art of technical
presentation. Please contact me if you'd like to help.
