Even if what you're currently working doesn't have a need for Clojure, knowing about how it can fit into your CFML apps gives you more knowledge into how to build future projects or deal with performance issues that may arise. Knowledge is power! I'll also be announcing some exciting news about a future meeting where we'll have someone from Adobe on hand to talk to us about CF 10. Please RSVP at houcfug.org so our sponsor Paladin knows how much food and drink to provide. US President of Railo, and former core developer of ColdFusion for Macromedia/Adobe. These days he's helping World Singles scale their many websites to millions of hits per day, and a tool he's using to do this is Clojure. Clojure is a functional language that runs atop Java, just like ColdFusion. And of course it can integrate into your ColdFusion application, giving you the best of both worlds: ease of development and super performance. Sean will be discussing the scaling challenges he's address with World Singles, as well as show us Clojure and integrating into CF. Sean gets a lot of requests to present to CFUGs, and ours was one of the few he accepted. (He'll be presenting remotely from San Francisco) Please make Sean feel welcome by RSVPing for this meeting at www.houcfug.org, where you can find additional information and directions. Paladin will be providing food and drink, as they continue their generous sponsorship of our group.
