Hello
I have been using a HP130 with roll feed and getting roller marks and
scratches on the premium plus satin and glossy roll media. I had heard
that some people got roller marks, but never heard about scratches.
The prints basically get scuffed on the way out of the printer, but
only when I use roll media. This makes the prints useless. Everything
else is OK so when I use large sized media through the front slot it
doesn't seem to happen.
Anyway, I got in touch with tech support who initially said it was my
roll feed and they sent me another one. I fitted this a couple of days
ago and as I expected it made no difference.
Now they have contacted me and said that this printer is not actually
designed for the thicker photographic media to be used with the roll
feed. They say that somewhere there is a public document on their
website that states the thicknesses/specifications of papers allowed
(I presume through the various different slots) and that premium plus
glossy and satin are too thick, hence my roller marks and scuffing.
Has anyone else come across this 'explanation'? If I'd known I
wouldn't have bought the roll feed (perhaps not even bought the
printer at all). I seem to recall when doing my research that most
people think this printer can handle media up to about 300gsm. I never
recall seeing anything posted anywhere about the roll feed being any
different.
They now want me to send them some samples, so we will see what
transpires.
Mark
