If I end up purchasing the HP130 I will have to make the decision of purchasing one of the approved Jetdirect products too (no room for the printer in the office). I see that the HP130 is compatible with the Jetdirect 175x and 620n print servers and I will probably chose one of the two.
Here's the differences(as I see them): 175x: external, ethernet to usb, $170US 620n: internal(EIO slot), direct ethernet, $345US. This is probably the same printer server that comes in the 130NR version. There are other obvious differences in the networking protocols they support, deamons they will answer to, etc, but I only need direct TCP/IP which both do. What I don't want to find out after purchase is, some driver functionality or maintenance utility will not work with one or the other print server products. You may ask why I don't just buy the 130NR. Well, I can get the 130 with 620n for $1540 or with 175x for $1365, but the 130NR will run me $1745. I'm not sure the roll feeder is worth the extra $205-380, but let me know if you think otherwise. So now to my questions: 1) Will I lose any functionality going with the external print server? 2) Will the 620n give me much better performance by bypassing the USB port? If so, how much better? 3) If any of you have used either of these I would love to hear about issues you may have/had with them.
