Leon-

The LaserJet 5100 uses our "LJMono" driver class, which is a raster PCL filter. Obviously, the Konica uses a compatible (enough) PCL for its format. However, it would be highly advisable to go to linuxprinting.org and get the correct PPD for your printer, that has all the appropriate options and settings.

As a rule, HP does not develop, test or support drivers and/or PPD files for other manufacturer's devices.

I'm not sure why you would want to do this... PPDs are available for the majority of existing printers on linuxprinting.org. And, if you have questions about how to develop CUPS based PPDs, I would consult the CUPS website and/or forums at cups.org or the website and/or forums on linuxprinting.org. This mailing list is specifically to support printing software that works with HP devices.

Hi all,

I used following command to install printer Konica Minolta Page Pro
9100 on my Linux platform.

lpadmin -p km9100 -E -v socket://km9100 -P HP-LaserJet_5100-hpijs.ppd
-o PageSize=A4

As you have already seen, the ppd file is HP LaserJet 5100's which
comes from HPLIP.

The result is incredible that the Konica Minolta Page Pro 9100 works
well with HP5100's ppd file, the CID (CJK) PostScript file also can be
printed out with customized GhostScript.

My question is whether possible to reuse ppd file to other printer even
non-HP brand? If it's impossible, how can I create a ppd file which
relies on GhostScript by my self?

Best regards,
Leon
